Spring Flags And Summer Flags Herald Fun In The Sun
As the cold winter months come to a close and the snow and ice melt away, we seek signs that warm weather is around the corner. Crocus bulbs begin to poke through what was only recently frozen ground, and an occasional rabbit hops through the front yard. These signs bring hope and thoughts of long, warm days, basking in the sun, shooting hoops with friends, and picnicking at the park. Even as we await the first flowers of spring, and even as our lawns begin to revive and turn back to the bright green of the warmer seasons, we can add a splash of color to our yards with spring and summer flags for the home and garden.
Spring Flags
Springtime is even more beautiful because of its contrast against the late days of winter, when the sky is gray, the remains of the snow have turned dingy, and our lawns are brown. The hope of spring with its brilliant flowers and blue skies brighten our thoughts. Spring flags adorning neighborhood doors and gardens pay tribute to the beauty that is around the corner. Brightening your door may be as simple as hanging a flag depicting daffodils, hyacinths, and tulips, all icons of the season that will offer your door step bright hues of yellow, purple, and green. An array of gardening tools or a watering can filled with cut flowers make a lovely flag and offer the hope that gardeners can soon begin playing in the dirt once again.
Depending on your style, you may choose spring flags with simple, artistically designed flowers in block pieces and bright, exaggerated colors, or you may wish to have something realistically designed with contrasting hues more natural and even subdued. Spring flags may be whimsical or artistic, or even silly.
Summer Flags
Summer means different things for different people, which is why there are so many different summer flags available. For some, the obvious adornment for the door or garden will celebrate fun in the sun. A beach ball and sunglasses, or a sand bucket and shovel, with a brilliant sun shining in the background tells visitors and passers-by that the family within is ready to play.
Baseball, the sport and pastime we associate with summer, may be the passion of the home, and the flag hanging by the door might feature a ball, bat, and ball cap. On the other hand, the family may want to depict their excitement for summer in country shades and shapes, with a patchwork-style flag, replete with images of birdhouses and fields rich with healthy crops.
Flowers, birds and wildlife, and representations of summer holidays like the Fourth of July, all are common adornments for summer flags. All a consumer need do is choose the one that best relays what he/she most associates with the enjoyment of the season. The home need not be limited to one flag either. Flags may be changed with the whim of the occupant of the home, or with the coming and going of holidays and events.
