Small Shipping Boxes – Why You Do Need Them
Small shipping boxes are ’small’, although that depends on your definition of small because they are available in a variety of small sizes. They can be used to transport clothes, shoes, gifts as well as some office stationary.
A small shipping device will vary in size, but it is generally between 0.5lt to 14lt. This varied scale of smallness allows you to pick a box to best suit your shipping needs. These boxes can be easily purchased online in either cardboard, plastic or Styrofoam. Plastic is a man made and longer lasting, waterproof as well as being very easy to clean. The cardboard boxes are environmentally friendly, easy to store because they can be broken down and flat packed and the can be quite strong. Small Styrofoam boxes are perfect if you need to ship small quantities of meat or chemicals that need to be maintained at a certain temperature. These boxes are not very strong on their own but they have been designed to also be environmentally friendly.
Like their larger sibling, small boxes are also available in a wide array of colors. If you have a plastic box then the colors can be clear, green, red, blue or even black and orange. With the cardboard boxes you will find them available in a rainbow spectrum of colors and patterns, Styrofoam is only offered in white.
Purchasing the little sister of boxes is probably best done through the internet. Online shopping will allow you to bulk buy, which can often be cheaper. If you choose to purchase single boxes then you will probably find that a majority of online stockiest will offer special bargains that are not available when purchased in the high street. On some sites you might also be able to read reviews of what other people though of the product. Plus by using your web browser you probably won’t have to leave the comfort of your own home or carry them back to the car as they will be delivered straight to your door.
Instead of reading about how great small shipping boxes, you should be surfing the net so that you can own one or two. These miniature wonders will help to transport all those smaller items that you previously thought would have to be placed carefully in larger boxes and if mixed with the right thermal or cooling equipment, they can control temperatures as well.

Can I put a cardboard box into checked luggage on Amtrak?
I’m moving from New York to Erie PA and am traveling via Amtrak. I have a couple of large cardboard boxes full of various items that I planned on shipping to myself. Would it be possible just to put them into checked luggage instead?
Also, one package is an LCD computer monitor. If I have the original styrofoam protectors, bubble wrap and “Fragile” stickers on the box, should I worry about damage?
Your luggage limit is 50Kg, you should expect the Amtrak officials to want to check your package, once they’ve OKd you have nothing to worry about, they will probably want you to stow it in the baggage car and pick it up at your destination, put a label on it with your name, address and phone number, in the unlikely event that it gets lost, they will be able to trace you.
